Dear Mr. Blom- I wanted to know if you had a history or something on the guitar builder Frank Gay.I assume it's the same guy from Canada that built all the old Opry guys their guitars in the 1950's. I've been looking for one, or something similar for myself, but don't know how much they cost or if anyone could reproduce one reasonably.(very reasonably, as I'm a starving hillbilly !) I do know of a guy in California named R.C. Allen who was Paul Bigsbys apprentice back when , but he can't replicate the fancy purfling and inlays . Also, do you know if Mr. Gay is still living..., and if so,how to get in touch with him . Thank you for your time, Slick.

Wrote... On my return from extended business travel, I found that the bridge had separated from the sounding board on my guitar, apparently the result of sudden, unexpected weather changes. I had thought I had released sufficient tension from the strings, but obviously not enough. I would like to inquire about the feasibility of having the instrument repaired. It is a Takamine C132S, about 20 years old, and otherwise in excellent condition. I live in Leesburg, Virginia, so your being in Virginia got my attention. Jim

You are a rare type of professional, and I am confident that you are the ideal person to perform the restoration on my beloved 1928 0-28 herringbone. I am not only looking for a professional luthier who has a special affinity for older Martins, but more importantly a luthier who possesses the integrity and work ethic that originally made these instruments possible. I am more concerned with getting the work done right rather than saving money, and I expect to be charged an amount that directly reflects the quality of the work. The guitar plays quite well, however, I will probably send the guitar to you early next spring. The assorted sloppy work that was perpetrated by the previous owner will probably annoy me so much that I will simply not be able to wait until the action rises. PS: Your web site design is excellent. I am a professional web developer, so this is not an idle complement. Did you do the coding yourself?

Wrote... Although not in perfect condition,( But who is at 40 something) and no longer having original machine heads(off a 64 Les Paul) This guitar is played every day. It's my pal. I don't care what it's worth(It's got to be worth more than the $178 it cost in 1958!)I don't plan on selling it EVER. That said, are there things that should be done to keep a 40+ year old guitar healthy?. The only problem I have with it is the strings do not align exactly in the middle of the fretboard. This is a minor thing and does'nt seem to effect the playability or intonation too much. Do you do business with out of towners? I live in Virginia and don’t get to your neck of the woods too often.
